This page carries a picture of Phoebe Gorgeous. She featured on a front cover of Nibbling News and belonged to Karen LeCras who has a Guinea Pig Rescue. Karen has written regularly for Nibbling News on a range of matters and we know her articles are much appreciated. Her son Matthew also sends pictures and news.

Here is the opening of an article by Karen LeCras which appeared in Nibbling News. Learn about the Reiki treatment:

Touching The Iceberg

Karen LeCras rescues and rehomes guinea pigs in the Reading and Oxon area. Most of the guinea pigs are private referrals from the RSPCA. Guinea pigs are rescued for many different reasons and are not always in the best of health, on occasions it has been appropriate to let senior guineas live out their days in the rescue.

When all is well and guinea is in good health this isn’t a problem, but when they are ill the decision has to be made about what is best for Guinea. When an animal is in pain the choice is clear. Difficulties arise when there is no obvious pain- yet, but it is inevitable. When is an acceptable time to ‘intervene’? Do you wait until guinea is in pain and the decision is made for you? Or do you end things now so Guinea doesn’t have to suffer at all? The agonising decision that needs to be made if the last option is chosen is ‘when’. How do you know that you are not ending guinea’s life prematurely? Does guinea want to leave us yet? Is it right to ‘play God’? All these and more crossed Karen’s mind whenever the ultimate decision was needed.

These were the primary reasons for Karen’s decision to attend the Reiki 1 course. After discussion with Chrissie it seemed that Reiki may help in situations like this. But it was only the tip of the iceberg…

All our guineas will be offered Reiki at some stage of their stay, and for continued treatments will be recommended to Chrissie Slade, Reiki Master and Guinea Lover.
